Kate is making new strides in her therapy as I said in the previous post.  She is becoming a pro in communication, pushing a button to say yes and shaking her head no for no.  We got her pumping iron this week, curls with the left arm and she bowled a 147 in Wii sports yesterday.  Her mouth is becoming less sensitive so she can begin to enjoy all the things that were once so painful like ice cream, great grammas applesauce and Grandma Fleury’s peaches and sweet potatoes.  ;)   Although, Katlyn has made a lot of progress here and the family would love nothing more than to keep her in rehab until she is fully recovered the time has come for them to discharge her to home.  We cannot look at this as being defeated but another chance for her to shine.  Many families who have gone through this say that coming home was the best thing they could have done to help their loved ones progress further.  So with that, plans are in motion for Kate to come home within the next week and here there are  no visitor restrictions for the H1N1.

Well, I am glad to hear of all the progress this week. I can’t even bowl that high of a score! She better give me lessons. I look forward to seeing Katlyn back in her own home with all the comforts around her. I think the “sounds” of home will be great for her. Thank you to everyone for all the support you give to Katlyn and our families. It has meant the world to me. :)

Katlyn, we’ve got you in our hearts and prayers. Hope the transition goes well and you make more milestones by the minute. Your progress has truly amazed so many, perhaps you’ll be at the annual climb in 2010 (wherever that may be), leading the way.

    Hey Kate!

I am so happy that you are soon going to be free!!! I understand how your parents may feel that you should stay in rehab to progress more. However I believe you are exactly where you are meant to be. Seeing how well you looked at home on Christmas day was great & it showed me that you will still make progress at home! What a joy it will be to get CoCo KISSESS EVERYDAY!!!! I just wish I could be there to help you with your next transition!

We miss you & love you a ton! Keep climbing! Can’t wait to Knock Knock with you!!
